2001-THE BEGINNING

Technology Evangelist for a New Light Source

When Philips Lumileds launched the world's first high-power LED, Andy W.T. Yu—future founder of the company and a graduate in Communications and Management—stepped into the lighting industry as a Technical Guidance Engineer for Hong Kong and South China. He dedicated himself to helping enterprises overcome application challenges while contributing to the company's market development strategies for this groundbreaking product.

2003-FIRST VENTURE

Creating China's First High-Power LED MR16 Retrofit

Andy W.T. Yu founded Aurora Lighting H.K. Ltd and secured over HKD 300,000 from the Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Fund. With this support, he led the development of China’s first MR16 bulb retrofit powered entirely by high-power LEDs—a pioneering concept that would later be commercialised by Philips as the Master LED MR16 series in 2008, validating his early vision.

2006-A NEW CHAPTER IN SHANGHAI

Technical Leadership in Façade Lighting

Andy W.T. Yu relocated to Shanghai, taking charge of LED lighting projects for Hong Kong and China, with a focus on technical direction for exterior façade illumination. He successfully resolved numerous complex on-site application challenges, further strengthening his expertise in large-scale architectural lighting.

2008-SCALING UP

Solid-State Lighting & Urban Façade Projects

Andy W.T. Yu established Solid-State Lighting H.K. Ltd, with its factory in Shiyan, Shenzhen. The company quickly made its mark in Hong Kong and Macau’s LED façade and urban beautification projects, delivering landmark installations that transformed city skylines.

2012-THE ODM ERA

Design, Manufacturing & Complete Solutions

The factory evolved into an ODM (Original Design Manufacturing) partner for branded LED lighting companies. Beyond manufacturing, the team provided turnkey solutions for exterior façade lighting applications, integrating product design with comprehensive project-specific system planning.

2021-STRATEGIC PIVOT

From ODM to Direct Sales & Proprietary R&D

As the COVID-19 pandemic subsided in China, the company transformed its business model, shifting from pure ODM to direct sales and significantly increasing investment in proprietary product research and development.

2025-EXPANDING EXPERTISE

Professional Lighting Consultancy

Officially launching lighting consultancy services, the company now delivers integrated design solutions covering lighting, high-voltage power, low-voltage controls, and smart systems—offering clients holistic, project-ready expertise from concept to completion.
